Unbolting the Feminism

“A lady jumps off the seventh floor of a building just to escape the rapists!”

“Raped by father for 7 months, a 10-year-old girl rescued!”

“Gang rape survivor finally breaks silence, reveals chilling details!”

“Woman allegedly raped in a moving car in the posh area of city!”

“Corporation sued for widespread discriminatory practices against women!”

“The annual reports of sexual harassment cases at workplace show rise of 26% in past two years!”

The above mentioned statements are the headlines that many of us must have read in past few months. However, the alarming question is: What we did after reading them? Did we react? Did we bother to notice the fact that, many of such cases frequently happen somewhere around us ?
The statements are surely startling but the fact is, there are still many unvoiced shouts echoing around us!

Sexual harassment, gender discrimination, casteism, color discrimination, inferiority complexion and the list includes numerous other issues that a lady faces whenever she dreams of success! Be it a career choice or family planning, it’s always a female who is bound to countless constraints. On the other hand, she is the gender who is expected to maintain her dignity by surviving within the virtual boundary offered to her by this society.
Whereas the list of expectations - It’s ridiculous!! A girl is expected to be a good cook, a shy personality, an obedient daughter, a perfect caretaker, a great bed-partner, a charming wife, a religious daughter-in-law, an admirable mother and the most pathetic one – an attractive lady. And when she is out with a perfect blend of all these expected traits, she becomes a victim of malicious minds!

She is raped because she is bold and attractive!

She has to sacrifice her career because she is an admirable mother!

She has to give up her success since she is a religious daughter-in-law!

She has to forget her achievements and plans because she is a wife!

Owing to her feminism, She has to be dependent on her family!

The point to ponder here is – If you can depend on her for your meal, can’t she be independent when it comes to earning the meal; rather than cooking the meal???

The cases mentioned aren’t to scratch the scars of anyone’s life. Rather, they are to give a voice to some silent cries that are growing loud every passing day.

One can promise candle marches and a few speeches on the discussed topics. But that’s not what females demand! Excuse her for her boldness and independence!
The labels and tags of being a girl aren’t justifying her capabilities. Talent doesn’t see color, caste or gender. Try to observe the fact that 'The dreams and achievements of both the genders are cascaded on one another.' No family can survive peacefully without the contribution of both the genders. What just matters is acceptance!

Standing strong and dealing with the dominance require an unmatched level of tolerance. But the character and glory of female aren’t to doubt if she is an independent thinker and a decision maker!

Let’s just stop all the restrictions and denial on the name of feminism. Remove this semicolon and take a step beyond the pause this society has accepted mentally!

Treat her like a queen and she will make you the king of her life..!
